The Cahaba River Fry-Down
Trussville Springs is proud welcome the Cahaba River Society back for the 2nd Annual Cahaba River Fry-Down, to be held along the river here at Trussville Springs on Sunday, September 25th. Activities will include a fish fry competition, live music, and of course fish for lunch.
Educate yourself at Fry-Down's educational booths and Conservation Stations. Cahaba River Society will provide a variety of educational opportunities for you and your family — everything from fly-fishing lessons to information about building a rain garden and conserving water in your home.
Small Fry: for the next generation of Mamas and Papas. At the designated kids' area, Small Fry will enjoy plenty of games and entertainment, both for your kids and for the kid in you! Some things you can expect:
- Moon bounce
- Games
- Rubber duck races
- Water pistols
- Youth boat races
- Fly-fishing and rock-skipping lessons
Fry-Down isn't all about fun, games and music; there will also be competition. Brave teams will battle fryer-to-fryer (and grill-to-grill) to see who can serve up the most delicious fish and hush puppies. Awards will be given for a variety of different categories, such as: People's Choice, Best Traditional, Most Creative, Best Hush Puppy, Best Team Uniforms, Best Team Name. A panel of judges will rate each contest entry and determine a grand prize winner for Best Overall Fish.
